Protecting Your Home From Violence: Part 2

Danville aka little Chicago. Not long ago it seemed a quiet, safe place to live, work and play. With trade policies like NAFTA signed into law by former President Bill Clinton in 1994, the local economy is faltering with the unemployment rate at 8.3%.

It’s taken over 20 years for the full effect of these failed governmental policies to show up in the form of poverty and violence in this former bustling industrial town.

In Protecting Your Home From Violence: Part 1, I mentioned that I’m a gun nut. As more and more people fall out of the work force and have to much idle time on their hands crime tends to skyrocket.

There’s been numerous shootings in Danville since the beginning of 2016. Some even in broad daylight, a block form the Police Department.

It’s now more important than ever to own a firearm and preferably one Concealed Carry Danville VAyou can carry concealed. Waiting for the police to respond is a surefire way of becoming a victim as they mostly investigate crimes after the fact. Your security is your own personal responsibility.

Protecting Your Home From Violence: Part 1

I’m a gun fanatic. Not that I idolize inanimate objects or have a fetish for violent behavior but I like to be prepared.  The world is a crazy place afterall. Just this morning I read a story in Danville, VA about a newspaper carrier getting shot.  He’s ok BTW.

Much like many inner city areas, Danville’s crime rate, fueled by unemployment has left those dependent on government handouts desperate and without morals.

Now there’s a lot ways you can protect your physical person and property from these thuggish characters. Here’s a few:

Securing Your Windows

Let’s talk about ways to secure your home shall we?

Even if you live in a seemingly nice neighborhood you should have something called window security bars installed on the lower level of your home.

Priority #1 to protect is your basement windows as these areas are usually dimly lit and out of site from your neighbors view. We had ours custom made by Michael Coleman at http://www.elitefabrication.net.

These metal bars physically prevent anyone from entering a window and are your first line of defense.

If you’re concerned about the aesthetics of this option you can also find window security film that prevents glass from shattering and allowing entry through the window, but my money’s on the steel window guards. Read Full Post…
